About this Event
Research Connections is an interdisciplinary social and professional networking event bringing together undergraduate students, graduate students, student representatives, faculty, and staff from across the research campus community. It is an initiative of the Experiential Learning Hub, partially funded by the Student Life Enhancement Fund (SLEF). 

Thursday, February 1, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Location: Peter Clark Hall; University Centre Level 0, University of Guelph

Schedule:

  • 5:00 - 5:30 p.m. - Registration and entry into event
  • 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. - Presentations, information booths, networking, and discussion

Self-serve food from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. while available.

What to expect:

  • Talk to faculty, including undergraduate research assistant (URA, ISURA, and/or USRA) supervisors who have previously supervised students or have upcoming research opportunities available.
  • Learn more about research opportunities available on campus and any current openings, e.g., lab openings, paid or volunteer research opportunities, and research assistant positions supervised by faculty or staff.
  • Learn about services on campus that can give you a competitive advantage in your next application, e.g., resume/cover letter writing, interview skills, peer helper and career advisor services.
  • Explore information booths from key departments on campus that can help you along your undergraduate research journey and help prepare you for life after graduation.
  • Socializing and networking in a fun, casual, and accessible setting
  • Free food!

Who should attend?
Students across all majors and degree programs are welcome! Whether you're contemplating pursuing research, looking for your first opportunity, in your last before graduating, or you're a seasoned researcher and want to provide mentorship and guidance to those newer to research, there's something for everyone. RSVP on Experience Guelph.

  • Kayla is a co-op student at the University of Guelph who is highly engaged on campus with organizations like the College of Business and Economics Students Association (CBESA), College of Business and Economics Dean's Office and JDCC Guelph. Kayla is also involved in the local community Special Olympics and Movember Foundation. During her Co-op terms Kayla worked at Keyspire, University of Guelph Department of Athletics and Kellogg's Canada.
